6 Easy, Clever, Cute Halloween Costumes for the Lazy Partygoer, Workplace, or Trick or Treating

Finding that perfect Halloween costume that is the appropriate amount of cute and clever while being appropriately modest (or not) for the occasion is not simple. Or, are you going to a party and not sure how festive people will be? We’ve all been there. Here’s 6 costume ideas you can top off with some ears or other simple accessories (or not), and voila!

  1. Ghost

Throw on this cute, comfy, low-key ghost sweatshirt for that office Halloween party where there’s way too much candy for a building full of adults (yet it is still somehow gone by 5pm). No accessories required!

2. Ice cream cone or cupcake

Pair this sprinkle sweatshirt with some brown skinny jeans (or maybe even a pleated skirt to create a cupcake liner) Bonus! This pant color is perfect for the remainder of the fall season. Add a simple knotted headband for the cherry on top!

3. Karen from Mean Girls - I’m a mouse, duh!

All you need is a pair of mouse ears and a little sass to complete this cozy sweatshirt version of the Mean Girls classic.

4. Thackery Binx, the black cat from Hocus Pocus

Level up from the standard black cat costume and become the legend that is Thackery Binx from Hocus Pocus with this embroidered sweatshirt. These glittery cat ears add a magical touch.

5. Mermaid

Dress like a mermaid who can still walk on two legs with a mermaid fin pencil skirt. Of course, a sweatshirt option plus a seashell crop top.

6. Damian from Mean Girls

She doesn’t even go here! sweatshirt. Throw up that hood and add some sunglasses and this costume is complete.

There you have it! I love a costume that can serve multiple purposes, be reused year after year and, most importantly, is comfortable!

Sarcasm, RBF, and Celebrating Everything - About Laurel Twist & Co.

Okay, so. After years of debate, I’m finally giving this blog thing a try. If you know me personally, then you know I’m pretty quiet and not an attention-seeking person (if I had a dollar for every time someone sarcastically jokes, “Laurel, you talk too much!” well, maybe I wouldn’t be working so hard on this side hustle ;) ), but I have a lot of thoughts and projects I want to share! I’m even one of those rotten people who scrolls past the blog content, eye roll in full force, JUST to get to the recipe at the end (good thing this isn’t a food blog!). BUT there are a few blogs of which I will absorb every word, ponder every photo, and maybe even utilize the information shared. Hopefully this blog is just that for at least one of you (...Mom?).

5 random facts about me:

  1. I hate being forced to share “fun facts” about myself

  2. I’m named after my grandfather, Laurel Gilbert Twist

  3. I was the first baby born in Saline, Michigan of the decade in 1990. My birthday is on January 4, if that is any indication of the size of my home town.

  4. It was in Ms. Drake’s art class in 7th or 8th grade that I decided I must have a creative career and attend art school.

  5. My dog does, in fact, look like me…we both have some serious resting b*tch face. (101 Dalmatians is proof that everyone’s dog looks like themselves, see below)

5 random facts about Laurel Twist & Co.

  1. What is now Laurel Twist & Co. began as Laurel Twist Design in ~2016

  2. I chose to rebrand to Laurel Twist & Co. to: a) allow me to keep my maiden name on something and b) allow more room for growth as I expand the product line. I felt “design” was more appropriate for a strictly freelance graphic design business, rather than a stationery and party goods shop.

  3. I used to hate greeting cards and would never buy them until I realized why - they are too cheesy! I began brainstorming greeting card ideas in a tiny blue moleskin on a mission to solve this problem. Emily McDowell has been a huge inspiration for me, I’m particularly fond of her Empathy Cards.

  4. What they say about small businesses is true - someone, somewhere really does do a happy dance every time someone buys something!

  5. I’ve got so many more products that I cannot wait to share with y’all!

What To Expect from Laurel Twist & Co.

In this blog, I’ll be sharing inspiration, DIYs, gift guides, recipes (okay, I lied), and anything else that might help you celebrate everything, or at least make your day a little brighter.  Is there any thing in particular you want to hear about? Leave a comment below!

Also, if you’re anything like me, you don’t have much of an attention span for super lengthy, wordy blog posts.

On that note, I’ll leave you with one of my favorite quotes:
